Christchurch Airport Announces major freight expansion

Christchurch Airport is making a big move to expand its freight capacity by partnering with Fulton Hogan. This project will double the freight handling area, supporting South Island’s growing demand for global trade connections and e-commerce. The new apron will span six football fields, providing space for up to eight 737-sized planes, ensuring Kiwi exports reach markets faster and fresher. 🌏📦

“Christchurch Airport is ready to meet the growing needs of South Island businesses,” says Business Canterbury’s Leeann Watson. The expansion is also aligned with sustainable practices, using recycled materials and low-emission asphalt.
